Arkansas River Whitewater Rafting

Click Here for Arkansas River Printable Directions

The Arkansas River drops 5,000 feet in its first 125 miles from its headwaters in Leadville, Colorado to the plains near Cañon City, Colorado.   Situated within the highest mountain region in the Rockies, a steep rocky gradient makes for excellent white water rafting and mountainous scenery that contains some fascinating geology and wildlife alike.  Rapids like Widowmaker, Raft Ripper, Devil’s Hole, Spike Buck, Sunshine Falls, Wallslammer, will demand your attention.

Get ready to kick it up a notch; this Arkansas River has something for the whole family.  The Arkansas River's long boating season adds to its appeal and most sections of the Arkansas are raftable from early May through early September.  This is considered the banana belt and you can expect mostly sunny days and drier conditions than in many parts of Colorado.
